Welcome!

Welcome to Charleston Red Standard Poodles! We are located 30 minutes from the beautiful historic downtown Charleston, SC hence why we choose to honor our routes in our kennels name. We have been breeding since 2018 and strive to better the breed in multiple ways. We do this by genetic testing through embark, OFA completions with full CHIC numbers, CGC, and confirmation showing.

About the Breed

Standard poodles are the second smartest breed of dog that you can own!! They are intelligent, intuitive, loyal, goofy, loving, and much more! “Pudelin” is German for where the breed originated, poodles are a waterfowl hunting dog. Hence why they love the outdoors and love adventures! Don’t get the standard poodle wrong as they also love to cuddle on the couch and be lazy all day! Poodles are extremely versatile and given the right amount of physical and mental exercise do well in any type of household.

Fun fact! Poodles are the national dog of France!

Grooming

Like a story of Disney’s Tangled the Poodle would be Rapunzel‘s best friend! They are hypoallergenic which means they do not shed and they do not carry regular dander of shedding dogs. This being said they need to be groomed every 8 to 12 weeks by a professional groomer. We prep our puppies as much as possible for their new homes and groomers for an easier transition. If you have never owned a poodle please please please find a good groomer local to you before contacting us and do lots of research before inquiring about our puppies or into the breed. The coat care is not to be taken lightly but it’s definitely manageable for any household as long as you stick to a regular routine and schedule for grooming.
